A special meeting was held today at the Parliament complex between Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, and Mr. Gerry Brownlee, the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament, who is visiting Sri Lanka.
Mr. Premadasa expressed appreciation for the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and New Zealand and emphasized the commitment to maintaining this relationship.
During the meeting, Mr. Premadasa provided an overview of the current economic recession and bankruptcy facing Sri Lanka, outlining his plans to address the financial crisis. He also criticized the government for undermining democratic rights by continuously postponing elections and engaging in various conspiracies.
