Dhammika Wijayasinghe, Director General of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), stated yesterday that she will be leaving the organisation.
In a letter to tourism stakeholders, Wijayasinghe announced that her time as DG of the SLTDA would end on October 5.
“We’ve been through a lot in the last two and a half years and survived.” “The difficulties drew us all together,” she explained.
According to insiders, Wijayasinghe has been shifted to a new ministry to take on a new responsibility.
Meanwhile, former SLTDA Chairperson Kimarli Fernando commented on the development on social media, saying, “A corrupted system removed a qualified and honest public servant from the tourism business.”
“It’s a bad day for tourism in Sri Lanka,” Fernando added.
