The General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Ranjith Maddumabandara, has informed Iran Wickramaratne—who has assumed duties as the Chairman of the Cricket Interim Committee—that the party’s policy is to prevent the politicization of sports associations. Accordingly, he has requested Wickramaratne to immediately resign from his SJB membership.
This communication was made in response to a letter sent by Iran Wickramaratne, in which he stated his intention to resign from the SJB Working Committee and the Management Committee.
