A special agreement was reached today between the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP) concerning the establishment of power in local government institutions.
The agreement was the result of a high-level discussion held between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and senior UNP leadership.
Representing the UNP at the meeting were Party Chairman Vajira Abeywardena and Party General Secretaries Thalatha Athukorala and Sagala Ratnayake.
Following the discussions, a joint press release was issued, bearing the signatures of the General Secretaries of both parties.
