This year’s Raigam Award was given to journalist Lal Hemantha Mavalage for compiling an unbiased news review for its televiction.

The government had raised and submitted a privilege question to Parliament, claiming that the telecast had violated its privileges.

Despite strong opposition from the opposition, the Parliamentary Privileges Committee took steps to file the complaint with the court.
