According to police, the injured victims have been admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred at the Meegoda Junction when a cab travelling from Avissawella towards Colombo reportedly veered into a group of people who were standing in line at a Dansala.

Among those killed were three women aged 15, 32, and 56, and three men aged 35 and 38 who were in the queue at the time of the incident.

Police said that two brothers from the same family in Padukka and a married couple from Piliyandala are among the deceased.
