The Department of Meteorology, in a statement issued yesterday (10) afternoon, announced that showers or thundershowers are likely in isolated areas of the Uva Province, as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, after 2:00 p.m. today (11).

In addition, a few light showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.

The department has urged the public to take precautionary measures to minimize damage caused by lightning, warning that temporary strong winds may also accompany thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded today was in Nuwara Eliya, at 12.7°C, while the highest temperature was reported from Mannar, at 27.2°C, according to the Department of Meteorology.
