This decision has been taken by the powers given to the Minister of Urban Development and Housing on the charge of not implementing the instructions to expedite the Urumaya Land Deed Program.
A ministry spokesperson stated that the Director General of the Urban Development Authority has been suspended until the completion of the investigation.
Commenting on this, Mr Prasad Ranaweera said he had received a letter stating that he would be removed from his position without any reason.
Mr. Ranaweera replied to the question of whether he was removed from the post temporarily and said that it is stated in the relevant letter that he will be removed from the post not temporarily but permanently.
