A Sri Lanka Army Sergeant pursued a suspect who was fleeing after robbing a female teacher at Saranapala College in Matara, apprehended the suspect, and handed over the gold necklace worth nearly 1.5 lakh rupees to the Matara Headquarters Police along with the suspect.
JPR Chandramal, a Sri Lanka Army sergeant returning to work after a short holiday, witnessed the crime and subdued the culprit before handing over the gold necklace to the Matara Police.
The sergeant’s service has been recognised by the Sri Lanka Army for his bravery despite the danger to his life.
