The second vote on the defeated budget of the Colombo Municipal Council is scheduled to be held next Wednesday (31st).
The Mayor of Colombo, Vai Kelly Balthasar, presented the Colombo Municipal Council’s budget proposal for the year 2026 to the council on the 18th.
The vote on the budget was taken at around 10.00 p.m. on the same day.
During the vote, 57 members voted in favor of the budget, while 60 members voted against it.
As a result, the budget was defeated by a majority of three votes.
Meanwhile, the second vote on the defeated budget is scheduled to commence at 10.00 a.m. on the 31st.
