Mannar High Court Judge MMM Mihal yesterday (11) sentenced a principal of a school in Selvanagar area of Mannar to seven years imprisonment with hard labour on the charge of raping a ten-year-old minor girl inside the school. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

In addition to that punishment, the judge also ordered to pay a fine of 25000 rupees and a compensation of 1 lakh rupees to the girl.

On September 23, 2014, according to a complaint that a 10-year-old female student was raped in a Mannar school, the Mannar police arrested the principal and presented the case to the Mannar court.

The High Court judge gave this decision after the case regarding the Principal was transferred to the Mannar High Court.

The incident of raping the girl was clearly proved on the basis of the girl’s statement and forensic medical report and other scientific factors, and the accused principal apologized to the court by stating that the accusation was made by him.

As soon as the High Court judge announced the verdict, the accused principal wailed loudly in the court and pleaded for his release.
