The Colombo High Court has served indictments on MP Johnston Fernando and two others over a bribery allegation case filed in 2012.

The MP and two others named in the case have also been granted bail by the court.

The bribery allegation pertains to former Minister Fernando allegedly using employees of the Lanka Sathosa for other services.

A case was filed against the MP by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in 2010.

The Commission said Johnston Fernando and two others had caused a loss of Rs. 40 million to the Government by employing 153 employees of Lanka Sathosa for election work from 2010 -2014.

Taking up for hearing the bribery case today, the Colombo High Court released the suspects on personal bails of Rs. 50,000 each and sureties of Rs. 1 million each.

The court has also imposed a travel ban on the suspects until the conclusion of the hearing of the bribery case.
