Sampath Bank PLC recently bagged multiple awards at the 22nd Dragons of Asia Marketing Effectiveness Awards in Malaysia for its Touchless Cash Withdrawal campaign.

Held on the 14th of October, this year’s competition saw entries from over 15 countries. Sampath Bank was the only bank to secure Gold, awarded for “Best Mobile Marketing Campaign” and a Bronze award for “Best Digital Campaign”.

The Touchless Cash Withdrawal service was launched at the height of COVID-19, as a solution to curtail the spread of the virus. COVID-19 saw ATM use skyrocket, with over a million hands touching ATMs on a daily basis. Seeing an opportunity to keep people safe, Sampath Bank, through its WePay app, introduced Sri Lanka’s 1st and only Touchless Cash Withdrawal service allowing customers of any bank to withdraw money from Sampath Bank’s island wide ATMs without ever having to touch the ATM.

“With the introduction of Touchless Cash Withdrawal, Sampath Bank was once again the first to market and today, it is clear that our efforts have been recognised. It is a true testament to the agile and collaborative culture within Sampath Bank, and our core ethos of using technology to better humanity, in keeping with our recent corporate campaign of Pohosath Minissu,” said Mr.Tharaka Ranwala – Senior Deputy General Manager / Digitalization, Deposit Mobilization & Marketin, Sampath Bank PLC.

While the campaign strengthens Sampath Bank’s position as the most innovative bank, spearheading Sri Lanka’s banking industry, the win also brought Sri Lanka glory as Triad; the creative partner behind the Touchless Cash Withdrawal campaign, became the only Sri Lankan agency to secure a position within the “Top 10 Marketing Communications Industry Ranking Ladder” of Dragons of Asia.

Director/CEO at Triad, Sarva Amerrsekere added, “This is a testament to the power and effectiveness of strong client-agency relationships and the impact such a collective team effort can have on building brands and driving business.”

Triad is a leading integrated communications agency, with a global network of resources, and handles communications for leading brands in Sri Lanka, and worldwide.
