Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, said that the freedom of expression and expression of opinion has been confirmed by the constitution, and the freedom of peaceful protest has been confirmed in the country.

The opposition leader said that the people of this country should have the freedom to exercise their democratic rights and that they strongly reject the abolition of the government as an opposition.

Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said this when he visited Mr. Wasantha Mudalige, the convener of the inter-university student body, who was arrested yesterday during a peaceful protest near Kelaniya University, at Ragama Hospital today.

The opposition leader further said that this government is violating even the basic rights of the people by preventing the election and carrying out a dictatorial rule and he will never have anything to do with such a government or anyone in his party who is friendly to the people and will never join this anti-people government.
