In the afternoon of today (14), instructions were given to the Armed Forces, Police and the Disaster Management Center to make arrangements for the immediate rescue of the affected people in Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts of the island where disaster situations may occur due to the bad weather.
In order to speed up the subsidence of the floods that have occurred in many areas, instructions were given to dig and widen the mouths of the rivers, to keep boats ready to rescue the affected people, to evacuate the people from landslide-prone areas and take them to safe places and to carry out these activities promptly.
