Four persons were trapped in a house owing to the collapse of an earthen mound near the Koswatta junction on the Agurwella Warakapola road as a result of heavy rainfall, and the 8th Lions Regiment is currently attempting to rescue them.

They have rescued one individual (the father) and transported him to the Warakapola Hospital for treatment, and they are continuing to rescue the remaining individuals.

Meanwhile, two deaths have been recorded in the Pitigala and Kiriella regions as a result of the severe weather conditions caused by the heavy rains.

A motorcyclist travelling in the Bangamukanda region of the Pitigala police domain and falling into the Kaludiya Pokuna canal perished.

Due to the overflowing canal caused by the severe rainfall, he was in danger due to the collapse of the bridge.

A traveller on the Rajamawata route between Kiriella and Munihin Kanda reportedly perished after falling into a canal near Kalu Ganga.
