Renuka Perera, the ruling secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, has been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court following his arrest on charges of disseminating false propaganda on social media related to the commemoration of the Mahaviu in the North.
Perera was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (5) morning. The arrest followed a visit by CID officers to his residence, where they recorded a statement before proceeding with legal action.
