Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary and Member of Parliament Ranjith Madduma Bandara has issued a special statement asserting that firm steps will be taken to establish control in all local government institutions where the opposition holds a majority. He also revealed that discussions have already commenced with other political parties to achieve this goal.

MP Madduma Bandara emphasized that the public’s vote in these local government bodies sends a clear anti-government message. He stated that the opposition is committed to respecting the people’s mandate by uniting and assuming power in these institutions, thereby realizing the public’s aspirations.

He further noted that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will collaborate with all other opposition political parties to ensure this objective is met. According to the MP, it is crucial that all opposition parties recognize and act upon the public sentiment expressed through these votes, as it reflects the collective will of the people.
