Ranjit Bandara calls an emergency COPE committee meeting! Sajith queries in Parliament! Speaker suspends COPE committee meetings!  I Sri Lanka Latest News

Speaker Mr Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced to Parliament that the COPE Committee will not meet until further notice. Sri Lanka Latest News​​

Mr Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, while speaking in the Parliament, said that a meeting of the COPE committee has been called at one o’clock this afternoon. Mr Marikkar and Mr Rauf Hakeem will not be able to attend. Mr Premadasa also asked the speaker to intervene in that regard.

Then announcing the decision, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the COPE committee meetings would be suspended until further notice.

There, the chief organizer of the opposition Mr. Lakshman Kiriella asked why the COPE committee meeting should have been held after the time of the relevant religious rites and why it was stopped until further notice.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the relevant meetings will be held after avoiding the problematic situations that have arisen in the COPE committee.
