Ranil invites to get up together on Independence Day! (PHOTOS)

President Ranil Wickramasinghe instructed the officers to celebrate the 75th Independence Day with pride in a manner that reflects national and religious unity.

Arrangements have been made to hold the 75th Independence Day commemoration ceremony on February 04, 2023 at the Galle Face under the theme “Let’s rise together.”

A discussion on the organization of the 75th Independence Day commemoration was held under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe at the President’s Office this afternoon (12) where the President gave these instructions.

Various events and programs have been organized in conjunction with the Independence Day celebrations and the main features are the bike ride, the competition for school children and the historical and rare book exhibition.

Also, a project of 2000 houses for low-income families is to be started in Colombo and Gampaha districts on the occasion of Independence Day.

On February 4th and 5th, national parks are open to the public for free and a commemorative stamp will also be issued in conjunction with the 75th Independence Day commemoration.
The organizing committee of the Independence Day celebrations consists of 10 sub-committees and an open invitation is extended to the public to witness the Independence Day celebrations.

Along with this, the organization of various cultural, religious and social programs was also discussed on the basis of all regional secretariats and district secretariats throughout the island.

Many rural programs such as Best Gardening, Best Rural Revitalization Center, Best Tree Planting Programs etc. have been planned to be held concurrently with the National Independence Day celebrations.

It has also been advised to display the national flag on the buildings owned by all government institutions in the island on Independence Day.

At the discussion, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Cabinet and State Ministers, United National Party Chairman, Member of Parliament Vajira Abeywardane, Presidential Senior Adviser on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayake, Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake, Defense Ministry Secretary General (retired) Kamal Gunaratne, the Chief of Defense Staff General Shavendra Silva, and three armed forces commanders, the Inspector General of Police, as well as Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake, were present at the discussion.
