Ranil flew to Dubai for the COP 28 summit! 3 ministers and 2 MPs! A delegation of 15! Another team from the private sector! 3 proposals from the president to the summit! I Sri Lanka Latest News

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is leaving for Dubai tonight (29) to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28). Sri Lanka Latest News

The United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 28) will be held at Dubai’s Expo City from tomorrow (30) to 12 December with the participation of heads of state, public-private sector representatives, environmentalists and academics.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe has decided to present three special proposals this year for the “Cop 28” conference.

The main proposal is to establish a Climate Change University in this country.

In addition, President Ranil Wickramasinghe is going to present proposals to the “Cop 28” conference to establish a Climate Justice Forum and a Tropical Belt Forum for third-world countries that are inconvenienced by the activities of developed countries.

Representing Sri Lanka are Foreign Minister Ali Sabri, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, Environment Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Parliamentarians Patali Champika Ranawaka, Ajith Mannapperuma, Environment Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Presidential Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijayawardena, Presidential Foreign Affairs Director Dinuk. A delegation of about 15 people including gentlemen from Colombo will participate in the conference.

It has been learned that another group representing the private sector is going to participate in this conference at their own expense.

20 young people are participating in this conference under the sponsorship of non-governmental organizations.
