Acting President Ranil Wickramasinghe has declared state of emergency effecting to the entre country just 48 hours before the parliamentary election to choose a president for the next two and a half years.

According to reports, Ranil and his supporters are panicked and planning to win the presidential election by hook or crook, for which he is well known. One example is a Rs. 20/- reduction in petrol prices.

It is also widely reported that MPs are being lobbied for financial incentives and ministerial and state ministerial positions.
Ranil wickramasinghe entered parliament through the national list as UNP one of the old parties in the country could not secure a single parliament seat during 2019 general elections. He was also a defeated Presidential candidate loosing to Mrs. Chandrika Kumaratunga and Mahinda Rajapakse.

In a twist of events last week, Pohottuwa’s general secretary was taken to task by the president of the party and some other stalwarts for expressing alliance with Ranil on the 20th.
