President Ranil Wickramasinghe visited Batticaloa yesterday and took steps to hold talks with politicians in the area.
Here, the President first A.L.M. There was a meeting with Mr. Ataullah and steps were taken to cut a cake to congratulate him on his birthday.
Members of Parliament from Pohottuve D. Weerasinghe and Wimalaweera Dissanayake were also present on that occasion.
However, the most special event to be seen here was the huge cutout of Mr Wickramasinghe that was erected in the middle of Batticaloa to welcome the President.
Even the statue built for Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa at that time was not this high.
Accordingly, many people believe that the President has started his presidential campaign from Batticaloa.
