Ranil Cannot Contest Under the Elephant Symbol: Prasanna Sets the First Condition! I Sri Lanka Latest News
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Prasanna Ranatunga, Chief Organizer of the ruling party and Minister of Urban Development and Housing, says that if President Ranil Wickremesinghe contests the upcoming presidential election with the ‘Elephant’ symbol, he will refrain from helping him. Sri Lanka Latest News

He points out that the president should run for the presidential election as a national candidate with a common symbol that everyone can agree on, not the ‘elephant’ symbol or the ‘pohottuwa’ symbol.

He said that for Ranil Wickremesinghe to become the President again, the support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is essential, and at present about 80% of the party is willing to support the current President in the presidential election.

The minister expressed these views in a discussion held today (2nd) with former local government heads of Gampaha district at his political office in Udugampala.

Prasanna Ranatunga said that Namal Rajapaksa still has time to compete for the presidency. If his name is suggested as the presidential candidate this time, he will not help anyone and keep silent from politics.
