It has been reported that former Minister Rajitha Senaratne is expected to be named as a suspect in an ongoing bribery investigation.

This revelation was made by officials from the Bribery Commission during court proceedings involving former Chairman of the Fisheries Harbours Corporation, Upali Liyanage, who was arrested on corruption charges.

According to statements made in court, the then-Minister overseeing the relevant affairs, Rajitha Senaratne, is to be named as a suspect and subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

Upali Liyanage, who was taken into custody by the Bribery Commission, was produced today before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga. He was granted bail following the hearing.
