The Department of Meteorology states that the prevailing rainy conditions in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva provinces are expected to intensify over the next few days due to the development of a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the eastern region of Sri Lanka.

According to an official statement issued by the Department of Meteorology, occasional rain is likely to occur in the Eastern, Central, North Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Hambantota district.

The statement further notes that certain areas in the Central and Uva provinces, along with the Batticaloa and Ampara districts, may experience moderate rainfall exceeding 75 mm.

In addition, showers or thundershowers are expected to develop in other parts of the island after 2.00 p.m., with some locations likely to receive moderate rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
