Railway trade union representatives have reported that on the 18th, all seats on the Upcountry route were sold out within just 30 seconds of the online reservation system opening.
They further highlighted that smugglers are continuing to exploit the online system, pointing to an incident where seats on the train segment from Kandy to Nanuoya were fully booked before tickets for the longer route from Colombo Fort to Badulla were sold out.
The union representatives emphasized the need for immediate action to address these ongoing issues and ensure fair access to tickets for all passengers.
