Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy, stated that the National Fuel Pass will be implemented across the country beginning today (26) in multiple locations at CEYPETCO and Lanka IOC filling stations.
He tweeted that the system will be in place with the last digit of the license plate until August 1st.
According to the Minister, filling stations that are not equipped or are experiencing technical difficulties will be assigned the last digit and fuel quota until the technical issues are resolved, and 60 percent of the locations have already been equipped and tested and will be given priority in fuel distribution.
The Minister requests that all CEYPETCO and Lanka IOC fuel station owners begin using the system immediately. By August 1, fuel stations with QR facilities must strictly adhere to the distribution rules. “We ask that the public register with National Fuel Pass and support the initiative,” he said in a tweet.
“By the end of the week, users will have the option of registering multiple vehicles with their business registration.” “Divisional secretaries will be given access to the platform to register generators, gardening equipment, and other equipment,” he added in a subsequent tweet.
He also stated that Sri Lanka Police and Divisional Secretaries will be given the authority to register three-wheelers and assign each three-wheeler to a specific fuel station. He added that the Ministry of Transport will be given access to register buses and assign them to depots or fuel stations as needed.
“Other services, such as health, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, industries, and service-providing sectors, will be granted access to the system to register their requirements and vehicle allocation at fuel stations,” he added.
Only the QR system quota will be in effect beginning August 1st, and the last digit of the number plate system and other allocations will be invalid. “National Youth Corps and National Youth Council members and volunteers to assist the program at fuel stations for the next ten days,” he added.
