The inaugural phase of the “Punarudayata Maga” initiative, a national program aimed at developing 1,000 selected rural roads across Sri Lanka, officially launches today (21), according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
This ambitious effort is being carried out as a special project under the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation.
In the first phase of the program, 55 roads will be developed.
So far, a total of Rs. 14 billion has been allocated for the project, with the overall estimated cost amounting to Rs. 19 billion.
