Despite this, the announcement acknowledges instances where some officers have reportedly seized recording devices or detained individuals for filming. However, it emphasizes that no legal grounds exist to prevent such recordings.
According to Section 4 of the Evidence (Special Provisions) Act No. 14 of 1995, unedited video recordings are admissible as evidence in legal proceedings. This provision applies to both complainants and defendants in criminal and civil cases, underscoring the role of video recordings as valid evidence in court.
