However, the event took an unexpected turn when a group of youths voiced strong opposition to the newly appointed board of officers. In response to the protest, the Minister left the venue.
A similar incident occurred at the Matale District Youth Club Conference, where the appointment of the new board also sparked protests. The situation grew tense, prompting the protesting youths to exit the venue.
The Matale District conference had commenced with the participation of Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake and several others.
