The police have water cannons and have attacked a protest held by Jaffna University students and the relatives of the missing persons.
Our correspondent said that the protestors tried to go to Nallur area by walking from Jaffna University, where the police stopped the protest at Arasadi junction area.
However, the police also used water cannons to control the protesters.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has also gone to Jaffna today to participate in the Taipongal State Festival.
