Despite assurances at the party leaders’ meeting, the agreement signed between the government and the Paris Club has not been lodged online. As a result, Parliament cannot meet to debate the deal, said Professor G.L. Peiris during a press briefing on July 1 in Colombo.
Mr. Peiris further stated that, as members of Parliament, they have the right to be informed about such agreements. He also mentioned that the government’s claims of the country recovering from bankruptcy are misleading the public.
