Professor Ashu Marasinghe, an advisor to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, stated that Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa should be the candidate for the 2029 presidential election.
He noted that the SJB currently holds the strongest position within the opposition and emphasized that the United National Party (UNP) should set aside personal agendas to facilitate a merger between the two parties.
Professor Marasinghe further said that Sajith Premadasa’s decision to merge the SJB and UNP was commendable, describing it as an excellent move for the future political landscape.
