Representing the lawyers’ collective, President’s counsel Mr Saliya Peiris pointed out that the government is trying to shut the mouths of the people of the country with the theory of Shut Up and sit Down. Sri Lanka Latest News

Addressing an event organized by the lawyers’ collective, he said that the people are unable to hold a demonstration, the trade unions have been silenced, the rights of journalists have been influenced, and even the courts have been influenced.

Mr Saliya Peiris said that the government is trying to suppress the people’s rights through the Online Bill and the Anti-Terrorism Act and said that MPs who raise their hands against these bills should know that they too may be affected if they go to the opposition.
