Mr. Gammanpila said that only if a parliamentary matter was affected, this be initiated under privilege, and said that the fourth section of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act has clearly stated what parliamentary privilege is.
Mr. Gammanpila said that he is using the parliamentary privilege to insult an enemy outside and to get leave from a journalist who had published or expressed something hurtful.
The MP said that it is clearly stated in the standing orders that it is not possible to talk about a matter that has been judged both inside and outside the parliament, but they are talking about the judgments of the cases that are being judged in violation of that order.
Mr. Gammanpila questioned if the law-making assembly does not respect the law of the country, how can we expect respect for the law from the common people?
