Prices for vegetables are skyrocketing! It is not affordable! One kilo of carrots costs Rs.2000! 1400 beans! 1300 green chilies! Sri Lanka Latest News

A kilo of carrots was sold for 2000 rupees at the public market in Anuradhapura like never before in history. Sri Lanka Latest News A large number of consumers who came to the Anuradhapura Public Market refrained from buying vegetables due to the high prices of vegetables. On other days, a large number of consumers came to Anuradhapura public market, but these days there was a big decrease in the number of traders and consumers coming to the market.

The Chairman of Tambuttegama Economic Center Mr. Sunil Seneviratne said that the wholesale price of one carat in Tambuttegama economic center is 1500.00 rupiah and the retail price is 1700.00 rupiah. Mr. Seneviratne said that the wholesale price of a kilo of beans is 1,000.00 Rapials and the retail price is 1,400.00 Rapials. Mr. Sunil Seneviratne, President of Tambuttegama Economic Center, said further in this regard. “On other days, one and a half lakh kilos of upland vegetables are received by the Economic Center.

However, today (15th) we received seven thousand kilos of vegetables”. Mr. Seneviratne also said that the destruction of vegetable crops due to continuous rains for three to four months has led to this situation.
