President’s Secretary Issues Directive: Legal Action Against Fraudulent Awarding and Acceptance of Professorships and Honorary Titles I Sri Lanka Latest News

President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake has instructed the government officials dealing with the subject to take legal action against giving national awards and honorary titles to individuals in an illegal manner. Sri Lanka Latest News

It has been observed that various individuals and non-governmental organizations give awards, certificates and certificates using the names used for the national awards and honors given by the President to special Sri Lankan citizens who are selected according to a formal system based on each specific decision-maker. mentioned.

The President’s Secretary has pointed out that this kind of disorganized awarding is causing great injustice and disrespect to the distinguished Sri Lankans who have been honoured so far.

President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake has emphasized that the misuse of such honorific titles used for national awards by other parties should be stopped immediately and the law should be implemented against such acts.

Provincial Governors and Cabinet Ministers receive nominations for National Awards, and on the recommendations of the Selection Committee to award National Awards to Sri Lankans and non-Sri Lankans who have rendered outstanding service to Sri Lanka, headed by the Prime Minister’s Secretary, appointed by the President. It is reported that proposals have been made to prepare a new system for inviting applications from eligible Sri Lankans who are expected to be admitted.

Accordingly, the award winners will be selected by a selection committee consisting of academic members appointed by the President’s Secretary, with the approval of the President.

The names of the selected awardees will be published in a gazette, and the awards will be presented under the chairmanship of the President on a date to be decided.

The President can decide the days suitable for the awarding of awards, including Independence Day, and National Hero’s Day, and national awards are also given to non-Sri Lankans.
