Former Northern Province Chief Minister CV Wigneswaran has claimed that President Ranil Wickremesinghe is rushing to bring Tamil political parties together with the government in order to show Geneva nothing else.
According to Vigneswaran, the government has yet to comply with UN Human Rights Council Resolution 46/1.
According to Vigneswaran, the President wanted to share a proposal on how to bring money from the Tamil diaspora to the country during their discussion last Wednesday.
Vigneswaran also emphasised another point raised during the conversation with the President. That is, they saw that the President had no intention of enforcing the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. According to the former Northern Province Chief Minister, the President’s attention was focused on establishing strict centralised control rather than decentralising power.
In addition, Vigneswaran stated that during the meeting with the President, attention was paid to the release of Tamil political prisoners—northern lands—as well as the issue of missing persons.
C.V., on the other hand, stated that he is willing to support the government from the opposition without directly contacting the government until solutions that meet the demands of the Tamil people are found. Mr. Wigneswaran informed the President of this.
