A high-level discussion took place yesterday afternoon (30) at the Presidential Secretariat with the participation of the National Steering Committee appointed to oversee the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan 2025–2029. The meeting was held under the patronage of the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, and included the heads of public and private sector institutions assigned with responsibilities under the action plan.
The National Anti-Corruption Action Plan, launched on April 9 under the theme “Towards a Peaceful Nation”, was developed based on a concept by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The five-year plan is scheduled to commence in 2025 and aims to establish a comprehensive and sustained approach to combat corruption in Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Secretary to the President Dr. Kumanayake emphasized the importance of institutional accountability. He directed all heads of institutions involved in the implementation of the plan to formulate detailed action plans outlining how they intend to fulfill their respective responsibilities. He also noted that the National Steering Committee will be tasked with regularly monitoring and evaluating the progress of these institutional action plans.
The National Steering Committee comprises representatives from both the public and private sectors. Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake serves as the Chairman of the Committee, while Ranga Dissanayake, Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, holds the positions of Vice Chairman and Convener.
