Presidential Fund Allocates Rs. 1.92 Billion for Cyclone Ditva-Affected Schoolchildren

The Presidential Fund has allocated Rs. 1,925,010,000 to provide a Rs. 10,000 allowance to schoolchildren in all districts affected by Cyclone Ditva, according to the Presidential Media Division.

In a statement, the Presidential Media Division said that all required provisions have now been forwarded to Divisional Secretaries through the relevant District Secretaries to facilitate the distribution process.

The government has decided to provide Rs. 25,000 per student to support the continuation of education for schoolchildren in the affected districts. Of this amount, Rs. 15,000 will be disbursed from the General Treasury, while Rs. 10,000 will be provided through the Presidential Fund.

Accordingly, the Rs. 10,000 allowance from the Presidential Fund for schoolchildren in the districts of Ampara, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Monaragala, Mannar, and Vavuniya has now been fully disbursed. The statement further noted that the relevant financial assistance for schoolchildren in other affected districts is expected to be provided shortly.
