President Ranil Wickramasinghe has forwarded the decision to extend three months of service to Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne for the approval of the Constituent Assembly.
Parliamentary sources say that the Constituent Assembly is scheduled to meet the next day (1) and will consider this matter.
IGP Chandana Wickramaratne’s service period was scheduled to end on the 25th. Mr. Wickramaratne, who was the 33rd Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka, assumed his duties on November 27, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Constituent Assembly says that no nominations have been made for the post of Inspector General of Police yet.
