President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has proposed a new name to fill the vacant post of Auditor General, Transport Minister Bimal Ratnayake said.
He stated that the Constitutional Council is scheduled to convene today (31), during which a final decision on the matter is expected to be taken.
According to the Minister, the President had previously proposed four different names for the position of Auditor General on four separate occasions. However, the post has remained vacant to date due to the Constitutional Council’s failure to properly exercise its executive authority.
The latest nominee put forward by the President to fill the long-vacant Auditor General position—an issue that has sparked controversy for several months—has drawn significant attention within the political sphere.
