President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced his decision to recall all politicians appointed to the diplomatic service in Sri Lanka, emphasizing a shift toward professionalizing the nation’s diplomatic corps.
Speaking at a public rally in Nuwara Eliya on November 3, the President highlighted the need for a parliamentary majority supported by all ethnic groups to drive meaningful change.
During his address, President Dissanayake shared insights on local agricultural practices at the Presidential Palace in Nuwara Eliya. He noted, “Organic vegetables are grown here, and 60 kilograms are sent every Friday to the Presidential Secretariat. When we arrived, we found that special vegetables had been brought in because they avoid the produce transported from Pettah. I instructed our security officers to distribute these vegetables accordingly.”
The President also revealed plans for public service salary increases in the upcoming budget, ensuring a fair wage adjustment for estate workers as well.
Concluding his remarks, he reiterated the decision to recall politicians in the diplomatic field, stating, “This is an opportunity we can afford only if we commit to building the nation together.”
