President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during his three-day official visit to India, held a pivotal discussion with prominent Indian business leaders in New Delhi earlier today (16).

The meeting, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, saw the participation of leading Indian entrepreneurs who explored avenues to strengthen investment ties between the two nations.

President Dissanayake highlighted the favorable investment climate in Sri Lanka, urging Indian business leaders to seize the opportunities available. The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral trade and investment collaborations in key sectors such as the digital economy, tourism, renewable energy, and information technology.

Key topics included strategies to expand Sri Lanka’s investment landscape through improved trade relations. Indian business representatives expressed strong interest in pursuing investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, while the Sri Lankan government assured its commitment to providing the necessary support and facilities to enable such investments.

Professor Anil Jayantha Fernando, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the government’s proactive approach to fostering economic partnerships.

The dialogue marked a significant step in deepening economic cooperation and building stronger commercial ties between Sri Lanka and India.
