A high-level discussion was held this morning (29) at the Presidential Secretariat, chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the participation of Chairpersons of District Coordinating Committees and officials from the Ministry of Finance. The meeting focused on gathering ideas and suggestions for the preparation of the national budget for the year 2026.
President Dissanayake emphasized the importance of addressing the basic and urgent needs of the people at the district level as a central priority in the upcoming budget planning process.
The discussion also included a comprehensive review of development projects currently being implemented across districts. Special attention was given to identifying infrastructure and other critical development requirements to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives.
Among the attendees were Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mahinda Siriwardena, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Russell Aponso, Director General of the Department of Public Finance E. A. Ratnasila, and Assistant Director General of the National Budget Department M. Anoma Nandani. A group of senior officials from the Ministry of Finance also took part in the discussion.
