A high-level discussion took place today (06) at the Presidential Secretariat between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to review the progress of Sri Lanka’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program.

The government has already reached a staff-level agreement following the third review of the $3 billion ECF, which is being provided to Sri Lanka under this program.

The findings of this review are set to be presented to the IMF Board of Directors by the end of February this year. During the meeting, discussions centered on the progress achieved so far and the government’s commitment to sustaining the program moving forward.

Upon approval from the IMF Executive Board, Sri Lanka is expected to receive $333 million as the fourth tranche of the ECF.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund; Dr. P. K. G. Harischandra, Alternate Executive Director of the IMF; Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank; Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Deputy Minister of Economic Development; Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President; Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance; and several other officials.
