President Allocates Rs. 1,000 Million for Compensation to Victims of Wind Disaster

The Ministry of Defense has announced that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has allocated Rs. 1,000 million to compensate individuals affected by recent strong winds that caused significant property damage across the country.

K.G. Dharmathilaka, the Additional Secretary in charge of the Disaster Management Division, stated that compensation will be granted based on the severity of the damage. Accordingly, Rs. 2.5 million will be provided for each house that was completely destroyed, while houses that were partially damaged will receive up to Rs. 1 million, depending on the extent of the damage.

He further noted that families of individuals who lost their lives due to the disaster will receive Rs. 1 million per victim. Additionally, a compensation of Rs. 1 million will be provided to those who became disabled as a result of the incident.
