The officer who said that he recorded about a quarter of Mr Wickramasinghe’s statement in those 5 hours also mentioned that the recording of the statement was stopped at around 4.15 pm due to the fact that Mr Wickramasinghe was tired.

Accordingly, the officer said that he was told to come back tomorrow morning that he could not come now, and that only the facts he said today were recorded.

Mr. Pramodya Wickramasinghe arrived at the Sports Offenses Prevention Police Unit outside the Sugathadasa Sports Complex yesterday at around 11.15 am.

Under the supervision of Director Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Jayanath Wanasinghe of the Police Unit for the Prevention of Sports Offenses, Chief Inspector of Police Supul Vithanage, the station commander of that unit, led the taking of the statement.
