According to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, the power cut for today (15) will remain at 1 hour and 20 minutes and will be extended beginning tomorrow (16).
It stated that this was due to the breakdown of Unit 1 at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, as repairs would take approximately 14 to 16 days.
The official announcement of the power outage will be made once PUCSL has given its approval.
Kanchana Wijesekera, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Power and Energy, announced that Unit 1 of the Norochcholai Power Plant had failed.
“The fault is being investigated by technical staff. Unit 2 is undergoing routine maintenance. Unit 3 will remain operational “He tweeted about it.
